Animated Quill & Ink Signature Animation

To Download the Feather.psp file. Click here. Download and save the Feather.psp file. It is in the Paint Shop Pro (PSP) file format. Open up this file and make a copy, Shif+d. Never work from the Original. Close the Original. Feather.psp

NOTE: This will also open and work in the new Paint Shop Pro program version 8.

NOTE: It will NOT open in your newsreader. Open it in PSP
If you are having trouble opening it, try this:
Open PSP, Click File, Browse. Find the folder, find the Featherl.psp file and click on it.

Clicking of Feather.psp will open it.
Shift+D twice, makes 2 copies. Never work from the Original. Close the Original.

With Image 2 the active window press Delete.
The feather will disappear, and the inkwell will stay.

Question: How do I make it transparent?
Answer: It is easy to make it transparent in PSP7.

Have white as your background color.

Click on Colors, Set Palette Transparency. Have a dot by Set Transparency Value to Background Color. Click OK.

It might still be showing white, but you can check it by clicking on Colors, View Color Transparency.

Do the above to your first signature frame.

Than when you make copies by pressing Shift+d your new frames will be transparent.

Here I am using Brush Script MT in size 14
You can use any script font that you have.
Click on Standard text. Fill color Black.
Floating and Antialias checked.

Click OK and your name will appear Image 2.

Since you had Floating checked you can now move and place your name towards the bottom of the frame and to the left of the inkwell.

Hint: If you find that the box is too small for your name. In Image 2, without the feather, click on Image, Add Border. Be sure that White is your background color. Have Symmetric un-checked, Top 0, Bottom 0, Right 0. Left to about 50 to 100 or so, depending on how large you want the image. Click OK.

After your name is in place in image 2 press Shift+D to make copies. Line then up in a row.

Have white as you foreground color.

Click on the Airbrush Icon and brush out part of your name in each frame as shown in row 2 below.

Hint: To make the color palette appear and disappear press c, or click on the color palette icon.

Make Image1 with the feather your active window by clicking on it.

Press CRTL+C to make a copy of the feather.

Make Image2 your active window.

Press CRTL+E and the feather will appear.

Move the feather to the first part of your name as in row 3 above.

Make the next image your active window. Press Crtl+E to insert the feather. Drag it to its new location.

Do the same for all the rest of your name frames.

Save each frame in order. I have mine numbered A01, A02, ect.

NOTE: A window might pop up and say, Because of the limitations of the specified file format, the saved file will be limited to a single layer and a maximum of 256 colors. Would you like to continue?
Click Yes.

Now, open your Animation Shop program.

Karen - Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Every frame that you save in PSP will still be a single gif file.

After you have all your frames made & numbered such

as A01, A02 you will have to open Animation Shop. It comes

with PSP.

In Animation Shop ( I have version 3.04) click on File, Animation Wizard.

Browse to where you have your new gif files saved. Choose all the first

choices and click next. When the Add Images box pops up click on it.

Browse to where you have your gif files saved. Click on the first one, AO1, hold down shift, click on your last file, such as AO15. This will high light all

the files from AO1 to AO15. Click Open.

On your finished frame, the one with the ink will, and your whole name

written out, right click on it and click on File Properties. Set the Display

Time to around 640, click OK. This will put a Pause in your animation.

You can click on the View Icon to see the animation in action. It is the

one that looks like a film strip.

Click on File, Save or Save As, and save it to a folder.
